Patterns & Charts
Diamond Lace Pattern (see Chart 1)
This breathable crochet stitch is built on a multiple of 12 + 1 + 2 selvage stitches.
- · Right side rows (RS): Work as shown in Chart 1.
- · Wrong side rows (WS): Purl all stitches. For yarn overs: purl the first yarn over, knit the second yarn over.
Setup: Start with 1 selvage stitch and stitches before the repeat, repeat the repeat throughout, end with stitches after the repeat and 1 selvage stitch.
Repeat instructions: Work rows 1–18 once, then repeat rows 3–18 continuously.
Front Neck Shaping (see Chart 2)
- · Selvage stitches are not shown in Chart 2.
- · WS rows not shown: work according to the instructions for Diamond Pattern (Chart 1).
- · Work rows 89–130 once. Further instructions are provided in the Front section.
Gauge
19 sts × 24.5 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 inches) in Diamond Pattern, measured after blocking.
Important! The initial increases at the start of the front neck shaping are not reflected in the schematic diagram. The neckline measurements refer to the back stitch count.
Schematic
(A flat technical drawing with measurements would go here)
Back
1. Cast on 87 sts.
2. Bottom band: Work 1 cm = 1 WS row knitwise, then 2 rows purlwise.
3. Continue in Diamond Pattern.
- · After completing Row 1 of the pattern, you will have 101 sts on your needles.
4. Work straight until 49 cm (approx. 120 rows) from the bottom band.
5. Neck shaping:
- · Bind off the center 31 sts for the neck.
- · Work each side separately.
- · For rounding the neck edge, bind off 2 sts once and 1 st twice on every RS row.
6. Shoulders: At 53 cm (130 rows) from the band, bind off the remaining 31 sts for each shoulder.
Front
Work the same as the Back until 36 cm (88 rows) from the bottom band.
At this point, begin neck shaping following Chart 2:
1. Divide the work at the center.
2. From the center stitch, work 1 knit and 1 knit crossed — these two stitches will now serve as your inner selvage stitches.
3. After completing Row 89 of Chart 2, you will have 52 sts on each half.
4. Continue decreases along the inner edge as shown in Chart 2.
5. In the last RS row of the pattern, decrease 1 additional stitch.
6. At 53 cm (130 rows) from the band, bind off the remaining 31 sts for each shoulder.
Sleeves (make two)
1. Cast on 39 sts.
2. Bottom band: Work the same as for Back and Front.
3. Continue in Diamond Pattern.
- · After Row 1, you will have 45 sts on your needles.
4. Sleeve shaping (increases):
- · At the same time, increase 1 stitch on both sides alternately in every 8th and 10th row from the band.
- · Work increase pattern as shown in the chart.
- · Increase 12 times in total → you will have 69 sts.
5. At 46.5 cm (114 rows) from the band, bind off all stitches.
Finishing
1. Seam shoulders using a mattress stitch or your preferred method.
2. Neckband:
- · With circular needles, pick up and knit 124 sts evenly around the neckline.
- · Work 1 round knitwise.
- · Bind off knitwise loosely.
3. Set in sleeves and sew sleeve seams.
4. Sew side seams from underarm to hem.
